Foster Family Agency

Bienvenidos Foster Family Agency (BFFA) is a division of Bienvenidos Children's Center, Inc., a private, nonprofit State-licensed child care and family agency. Since 1988 BFFA's mission has been to unite caring foster families with children in need. Our program is licensed by the State of California and is trusted by the Juvenile Dependency Court and other Child Protective Service agencies for therapeutic foster care to the children they place with us. We depend on the generous hearts of families willing to open their homes to welcome children who have been abused or neglected.

Children who need foster care

The children we serve have various backgrounds and complex issues. Some are victims of physical or emotional abuse; others have been abandoned or neglected. Some are with us a few days or weeks, whereas others require longer term care. A stable and nurturing environment provided by a caring family can be a truly healthy experience which can make the difference between healthy development or continued suffering.

We are committed to finding homes that can welcome brothers and sisters together to minimize further trauma. It is important that siblings not experience feelings of loss by their separation from one another in foster care.

About the Program

Our program emphasizes quality of care and quality of life. Placements are carefully considered; we do our best to match every child's individual physical and emotional care needs to the personalities and environment unique to our foster families.

We provide foster parents with information about the children's care needs and their birth family's history. Foster families and birth families work together toward the successful reunification of the children with their birth families.

BFFA Foster Parents

Children carry their foster family's love with them for a lifetime. We want the children to become as a much a part of the foster family as possible. BFFA-certified foster parent families receive:

  • individualized assistance
  • foster parent education
  • individual and group foster parent counseling
  • support group membership
  • respite care: eight hours every month
Our BFFA social work professionals usually visit every foster child in their foster home weekly, or more often as needed. BFFA-certified foster parents are reimbursed each month for their care to the children.
